Free Website Enhancement Reader – ADD Reader!

Please note that this is not an officially supported tool by The Author Helper.
I’m just sharing this as it may help people with ADD/ADHD read web pages more easily.

What’s it for?

I was looking for a way to help my ADD brain read and digest information on web pages and I came across various pieces of information.

One that seemed to work for me was the bolding of letters in most words of paragraphs (mostly at the front, but some times not).

Let me say that again: One that seemed to work for me was the bolding of letters in most words of paragraphs.

See what I mean? 🙂

It seems that brains like mine scan over text so quickly that we don’t pick up on the deeper information we’re desperately trying to understand. When words are bolded in spots, however, it interrupts our normal scanning and we end up slowing down and find ourselves actually reading the content. It’s kinda nifty!

If you have ADD/ADHD, or even if you just find yourself reading this sentence and it’s much clearer to you, grab the ADD Reader for FREE and use it in your daily life.

NOTE: This will not work on all websites and it may actually fail horribly on some. 😉 Also, it’s going to change up the layout of the pages slightly. Usually it’s not enough to matter, but if it bugs you, or if the ADD Reader doesn’t work at all on a particular site, just refresh the page and read that site without the ADD Reader. For example, it’s not going to work on Facebook as they have blocks in place.

NOTE: If you want a deeper solution that you can use on your epubs and all that, there is a company that makes a way deeper version of this. You can find them at https://bionic-reading.com. Note that we have NO affiliation with them at all.

Install it on your browser

It should work on most modern browsers, but I’ve only tested it on Chrome, Brave, and Firefox (version 105.0.3). If you’re using another browser, I have no idea if it will work or not.

NOTE: You may have other plugins, popup blockers, or security settings on your browser that may interfere with the ADD Reader’s ability to function properly. I’m unable to support this, so it’ll be on you to diagnose and resolve. Here is what I would do if the ADD Reader isn’t working for you, though: Shut off all plugins/popups/etc. If the ADD Reader starts to work, then turn each plugin/popup back on one-by-one until you find with one stops the ADD Reader. From there, just shut that one off whenever you want to use the ADD Reader, and turn it back on when you’re done.

To install on Chrome:

  • You will need to have your bookmarks bar visible to do this installation.
  • Drag (don’t click) the following button to your bookmarks bar.

To install on Firefox (tested on 105.0.3):

1. Click the menu on the top-right of Firefox and show the bookmarks option.

2. Make sure you’re showing bookmarks.

3. Right-click on the ADD Reader button below and choose Copy Link.

    4. Right-click on your bookmarks bar and select Add Bookmark.

    5. Set the name as “ADD Reader” and paste the link you just copied from the button into the URL field, and then save the bookmark.

    6. You should now see the ADD Reader on your bookmark bar.

    7. Finally, go to any page on the web and click the ADD Reader bookmarklet. You should see a number of words automatically bold certain characters to help you read and digest information better.

Again, it won’t work on all pages, but I’ve found it works a lot of them! 😀
